An ideal lens for portraiture, the Sony E-mount AF 85mm f/1.4 from Rokinon is a short telephoto prime distinguished by its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture. This fast design, while benefitting its use in low light, also affords notable control over depth of field for selective focus applications. The optical design features four high refractive index elements, which help to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize high sharpness and clarity. One extra-low dispersion element is also featured, which controls color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to realize a high degree of clarity and color accuracy. Individual elements also feature an Ultra Multi-Coating, which suppresses flare and ghosting for greater contrast in strong lighting. Complementing the optical design is an Ultrasonic Dual Linear motor, and an internal focusing design, which offers fast and quiet autofocus performance. Additionally, a rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to pleasing bokeh quality.

    This ideal portrait-length prime is designed for optimal quality imaging with the most advanced Sony Full Frame mirrorless cameras. It also performs with Sony APS-C sensor models as a high speed 127.5mm equivalent AF telephoto lens.

    A variety of advanced lens technologies, including a Hybrid Aspherical element, allow for a more compact (< 3 inches long) and lightweight (17oz) design that also minimizes aberrations, controls distortion, and provides excellent resolution. Ultra Multi-Coating is applied to all optical surfaces to suppress flare and ghosting while increasing contrast and color accuracy.

    Autofocusing is fast, quiet and accomplished by two Linear Ultrasonic Motors (LSM’s) that only have to adjust a single inner lens group to achieve precise focus.

    Additional notable features of the new Rokinon AF 85mm F1.4 include Weather Sealing, all metal construction, an ergonomically designed size, shape and grip for enhanced comfort, and a rounded 9 blade aperture that helps to achieve beautiful bokeh.

    This short telephoto prime’s bright f/1.4 maximum aperture is perfect for low light shooting and offers great control over depth of field for isolating subjects and working with selective focus that is perfect for portraiture. It comes complete with a reversible lens hood, lens caps, and a soft pouch case.
